Cheshire Lady Golfer wins Speyside Golf Festival Quaich
Liz Ruscoe, Vicars Cross GC, near Chester pipped Tom Anderson, Bathgate by a single point, to win the magnificent Speyside Golf Festival Quaich. For the second year in a row, the event has been won by a lady golfer.
Over 100 visitors to Speyside from across the UK, Australia, Holland, Germany and Switzerland, competed over 5 days at Forres, Moray, Elgin, Boat of Garten, with the final round and prize-giving held at Grantown last Friday. Comments from competitors included “best tournament we have ever played in – a great golf week” and from one of the German players, fulsome praise for the friendly atmosphere.
More than 15 of the winning competitors received iconic Speyside gifts including whisky, fine cashmere as well as vouchers and golf related prizes. Leading scores:

Speyside Golf Experience organises this annual Festival which is unusual in that competition takes place over 5 different courses over 5 consecutive days. It’s part of an overall tourism initiative designed to promote the very best of Speyside through its golf courses, hotels and visitor attractions and is supported by the participating golf clubs and the following businesses: Gordon & MacPhail, Benromach, Johnstons of Elgin, Sunninghill Hotel, Elgin, Knockomie Hotel, Forres and the Grant Arms at Grantown on Spey.
Next year’s Festival will next take place from 3 - 7 September 2018. and Tournament Director, Steve Crane was delighted with the capacity entry from across the UK and abroad and anticipates similar support for the event in 2018.
