The Benromach story.

The truth of the matter is that Benromach expresses the original, classic character of Speyside: its beautifully balanced character exudes a luscious, light touch of smoke.

Before the mid 1960s, all the distilleries in Speyside dried and malted their own barley.

Hidden away in remote glens, the distilleries topped up their coal fires with cuts of local peat. It was enough to impart a touch of smoke to the region’s whisky.

GM-glasses-4James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail announced the opening of their 'centrical and commodious premises' on South Street, Elgin, on 24th May 1895; they would be proud to see their legacy continued by their young fourteen-year-old apprentice, John Urquhart.
